Counseling

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 12 years of clinical experience, I help individuals navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, grief, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that healing occurs through safe, supportive relationships.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals facing a wide range of concerns, including individual and generational trauma, attachment injuries, substance use disorders, pornography addiction, traumatic brain injury, guilt and shame, and mental health crises. I believe that our struggles make sense within the context of our life experiences, relationships, and environments, and that understanding those influences is often an important part of the healing process.

Philosophy & Approach

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that healing begins within safe, compassionate, and attuned relationships. I tailor my work to the unique needs of each client, recognizing that mental health challenges—like physical injuries—require individualized care. Whether someone is navigating a temporary setback or carrying deep emotional wounds, my goal is to create an environment where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered to move toward meaningful change.

My work is strongly influenced by Person-Centered Therapy. I believe that self-acceptance often precedes meaningful and lasting change. Before people can effectively transform patterns that no longer serve them, they often need the opportunity to understand themselves with greater compassion and clarity. I strive to offer unconditional positive regard, accurate empathy, and a non-judgmental therapeutic environment where clients can safely explore their experiences, strengthen self-awareness, and develop a healthier relationship with themselves.

I am also influenced by Compassion-Focused Therapy. Many of the behaviors people struggle with today began as adaptive attempts to find safety, connection, control, or protection in difficult circumstances. Rather than approaching these patterns with criticism or shame, I help clients understand the purpose these behaviors once served while developing healthier ways to meet those same underlying needs. I believe that reducing shame and increasing self-compassion are often essential parts of the healing process.

I draw from an integrative set of therapeutic approaches, including: - Utilization of spiritual beliefs and values to support healing when desired by the client - Person-Centered Therapy - Compassion-Focused Therapy - Attachment-Based Therapy - Emotionally Focused Therapy - Mindfulness-Based Practices - Motivational Interviewing - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - Trauma-Focused Therapy

Throughout the therapeutic process, I strive to meet clients where they are and collaborate on treatment approaches that align with their goals, strengths, values, and circumstances.

Experience & Background

Before transitioning to clinical work, I served as the Director of a nationally recognized drug and suicide prevention program on the Navajo Nation. During this five-year period, my team and I developed culturally sensitive, experiential programs for at-risk youth, including equine-assisted interventions, youth entrepreneurship programs, summer camps, and high-ropes courses. This formative experience deepened my understanding of trauma, cultural responsiveness, community-based prevention, and the healing power of meaningful relationships.

I later worked as a medical social worker in hospital, home health, and hospice settings, supporting patients and families through moments of crisis, transition, illness, and profound loss. My responsibilities ranged from connecting individuals with essential resources to providing crisis intervention and emergency mental health counseling. These experiences strengthened my ability to support people facing both immediate challenges and long-term emotional struggles.

For the past two years, I have provided online therapy, using secure digital platforms to offer accessible care through messaging, phone, and video sessions. This experience has reinforced my belief that meaningful therapeutic relationships and effective treatment can occur regardless of physical location when trust, consistency, and connection are present.
